How do the European Restitution Committees implement the Washington Conference Principles on Nazi-Confiscated Art? In 2018, twenty years after the Washington Conference, the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Spoliation Advisory Panel commissioned Dr Charlotte Woodhead to write a report about those claims which have already been dealt with by them, and their outcomes.<br />Dr Woodhead is Assistant Professor at Warwick Law School and an attorney. Her research interests lie in cultural heritage law. Between 2013 and 2019, she was a member of the British Museums Association’s Ethics Committee. She shows how differences in process, information and criteria may lead to different results in France, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom, and she proposes ways of achieving convergence in practices.
